"blue flag" filmed from 13 Greek beaches – see which ones

A total of 13 Greek beaches Lost Blue Flags, assigned within the framework of the International Program for Environmental Education, Information and Education “Blue Flag 2023”. They were withdrawn due to the fact that the beaches did not meet the criteria of the program.

Recall that in May 2023, Greece, which received 617 Blue Flags, ranked 2nd in the world. According to the procedure of the program, managers must organize the coast in a timely manner and send relevant evidence. The deadline for placing the Blue Flag is 1 July.

So far on the coasts below have not been undertaken the necessary actions to organize them in accordance with the criteria relating to: provision of services to bathers and visitors, including the disabled, cleanliness, correct information, safety of bathers and visitors.

The members of the National Anti-Crisis Committee and the Program Coordinating Committee, as expected, decided to withdraw the awards in order to preserve the prestige and authority of the institution. At the same time, inspection visits by specialists from the Hellenic Society for the Conservation of Nature and international experts began on all the awarded coasts of the country, which, for the most part, take place without warning. If deficiencies in accordance with the criteria are found on other coasts, further deprivation of the award will follow. Withdrawal from the competition of these beaches is connected with organizational weaknesseswhile the quality of the bathing water remains impeccable, according to program standards.

According to the Greek Society for the Conservation of Nature, to 13 beaches that have lost their Blue Flaginclude the following:

3. Scutari beach, East Mani municipality, Laconia province
4. Gythio Beach 2/Selinica, Eastern Mani Municipality, Laconia
5. Stomio beach, Agia municipality, P.E. Larisa
6. Ponti beach, Lefkada municipality, P.E. Lefkada
7. Tsampika Beach, Rhodes Municipality, P.E. Rhodes
8. Tsampika Simiaki Beach, Rhodes Municipality, Rhodes
9. Aquarium Beach 1 – Agalma Diagoras, Rhodes Municipality, P.E. Rhodes
10. Enhidrio Beach 2-Grand Hotel, Rhodes Municipality, Rhodes
11. Enhidrio Beach 3-Grand Hotel, Rhodes Municipality, Rhodes
12. Enhidrio Beach 4-Grand Hotel, Rhodes Municipality, Rhodes
13. Ormos beach, Chios municipality, Chios.
