Mitsotakis announced a roadmap for the demarcation of maritime zones with Turkey


Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke of important disagreements with Turkey, but also of the possibility of agreeing on a road map to demarcate maritime zones.

According to the newspaper ethnos.gr, Mitsotakis made the remarks while attending a NATO summit in Vilnius ahead of a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday.

“We are not doomed to live in a constant atmosphere of tension,” he said characteristically. “I believe that with a strong popular mandate, we can take the first step towards normalizing relations.”

In this regard, the Prime Minister emphasized that “in recent months, a positive climate has formed between our countries, and I hope and expect that we will be able to build on this positive climate and take several important steps forward, steps that will undoubtedly take for the benefit of both our peoples.”

Regarding the deal between NATO-Turkey and Sweden, the Greek Prime Minister said in a tweet: “Sweden’s accession to NATO as the 32nd member of the alliance is very good news. It makes us all safer and stronger. We look forward to the completion of the process!” .
