A heat of up to 38°C is forecast by the National Observatory of Athens on the continent and islands of Greece until Friday July 7th.

Throughout the country today and tomorrow will prevail high temperatures. Experts warn of high risks to health and well-being. The air temperature in some places will confidently stay at around 37-38°C, and only on Saturday, August 7, it will drop slightly, by 1-2°C.

The METEO division of the National Observatory of Athens warns of high temperature days in six major Greek cities: Athens, Thessaloniki, Larissa, Ioannina, Patras, Heraklion. Experts warn of health hazards.

The categorization system is based on an algorithm for predicting the impact of hot days on the health of residents of these six cities. The algorithm takes into account, in addition to temperature, other parameters that affect the thermal sensation, such as humidity and wind, writes CNN Greece.

Extremely high temperature conditions expected in Athens and Larisa on Friday 7 July (Category 2), the necessary precautions and prevention measures should be taken for chronically ill and vulnerable people. If possible, stay at home during the hottest hours of the day.
