The goal of the new government is for the Greek tourism industry to become “strong, competitive and sustainable,” said new tourism minister Olga Kefalogianni, speaking at the handover ceremony of the ministry on Tuesday, along with acting tourism minister Joanna Dretta.
Speaking about the key policy of the ministry, together with the new Deputy Minister Elena Rapti, Kefalogianni mentioned respect for the environment and raising the level of the tourism product beyond seasonal restrictions and trends:
“We want tourism to be 12 months out of the year,” she said. She added that sustainability, commercial viability and short-term rentals are also of greater interest.
