Crete: shark spotted in shallow water

A small shark, “cutting circles” in shallow water, quite surprised vacationers on the beach of Heraklion in Crete.

As Athens News wrote earlier, the other day, two miles (3 km) from the port of Zakynthos, in the area between Kyllini and Kefalonia, there was shark spotted. The predator was noticed by a fisherman and approached her on a boat in order to get a better look at the marine life. The man was quite surprised and puzzled when he discovered that it was a shark. Apparently it was a mako, also known as a blue-gray shark or mackerel shark.

According to cretalive, today many people took to the beaches of the island, as the weather was ideal for sea swimming. The coast, where a large number of bathers usually gather, is located in the Kokkini area. It was here that a small shark appeared at noon. In pursuit of prey, mullet fish, she swam into shallow water.

Some were frightened and even panicked (what if her parents, “dad and mom”, decent-sized sharks, roam somewhere nearby ?!), while others, the most courageous, managed to grab their phones and captured the “sea predator”.
