Store shelves in the US will soon be filled with test-tube chicken

The US Department of Agriculture, following a similar FDA decision, has authorized the production and sale of lab-grown chicken meat.

The ministry believes the cultured meat is safe to eat and has called the process “a giant step towards a more sustainable future.” Artificial meat has already attracted the interest of several Californian chefs.

The Department of Agriculture has issued permits to two Californian firms that are leaders in the field. Proponents of the innovation are confident that this will usher in a new era of meat production and, ultimately, relieve animal suffering and significantly reduce the environmental impact of the agro-industrial complex.

Upside Foods has already received its first order from a Michelin-starred restaurant in San Francisco. Soon the meat from the test tube will hit the shelves of supermarkets.
