A unique concert by Plácido Domingo at Toplou Monastery

Placido Domingo will give a unique concert at the sacred monastery of Toplou in Sitia on the island of Crete.

The world-famous tenor and baritone will give a concert on Sunday 9 July 2023 in the imposing space of the holy monastery of Toplou in Sitia, one of the most historical religious monuments of the island. Domingo’s concert at the Toplou Monastery marks an attempt to draw attention to the region of Sitia and Lassithi, which still retains an authentic Cretan flavor, an area of ​​rich historical interest and unique natural beauty.

The event could not have taken place without the support of three companies with a vision and faith in culture and in highlighting the identity of Sitia – Pankritia Bank, Attica Bank and Intrakat, according to a press release from the organizers.

The proposal was warmly received by the Toplou monastery, in the courtyard of which the concert will take place. On Sunday 9 July, the magical voice of Placido Domingo will join the unique landscape of Crete in a one-time night adventure that will have a similar continuation in the future, with similar activities in the monastery.

The concert will feature world-famous soprano Cristina Pulizi, while the ERT National Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by the great Spanish conductor Jordi Bernacer.

And 2023 marks a very important event – the 100th anniversary of the birth of the divine Maria Callas.
