Serbs Arrest Kosovo Special Forces Soldiers

Tensions between Serbia and Kosovo have risen again after a Serbian police special unit arrested three colleagues from the Kosovo Police Special Forces on Wednesday.

According to the Serbs, members of the Kosovo special forces were on Serbian territory, with which the Kosovars disagree, claiming that “the Serbs kidnapped three soldiers.” The Serbian Interior Ministry said in a statement that “Kosovo police officers penetrated deep into central Serbia, where they were discovered and arrested.”

The three police officers were armed and equipped, but offered no resistance to arrest. The Serbian Ministry of the Interior also said in a statement that “The quick reaction of the Serbian police successfully prevented an attempt by the Kosovo police to infiltrate the territory of central Serbia to carry out actions that in all respects are a terrorist act. The goal was to destabilize and escalate the confrontation directed against the Republic of Serbia”.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić was urgently informed about this action, and after receiving the information, he left the Russian Embassy, where he attended a reception on the occasion of the Day of Russia, and then immediately went to the presidency building.

Reaction on twitter:

Three Kosovo police officers were abducted by Serbian forces who entered Kosovo illegally, according to officials. This is a clear violation of the sovereignty of Kosovo and another act of aggression and provocation on the part of Serbia, which must be condemned.”

Three Kosovo police officers were abducted by Serbian forces inside Kosovo. This is not only an act of aggression. This is madness.

At the same time, at least one Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk transport helicopter entered Serbian airspace from Romanian airspace, according to media reports. In particular, Flight Radar 24 revealed shortly after noon that one or more US Army Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters were flying south of Belgrade.

According to the Serbian telegram channel “Combat Efficiency”, the aircraft entered Serbia from Romanian airspace and was moving at a speed of about 250 km/h. It is reported that the plane or a group of planes flew over the Lipovacka forest at about 12:34 p.m. and are moving in the direction of Barić-Obrenovac. The President of Serbia spoke with KFOR Commander General Angelo Michel Ristuccia.

It should be noted that yesterday, Tuesday, Kosovo Police Special Forces arrested a citizen of Serbian nationality in North Mitrovica, who is considered responsible for the incidents in the city of Zvecan on 29 May.

The arrest sparked new tensions in northern Kosovo, with Serbs protesting and Belgrade accusing Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti of seeking conflict and war.
