Traffic restriction in the center of Athens on June 11 due to the "Run Bike Care"


On Sunday 11 June, traffic restrictions will be put in place in the center of Athens to facilitate the Run-Bike-Care cycling race.

From 07:30 to 10:30 am, sections of major roads will be gradually closed, including the following avenues: Sygrou towards Syntagma Square, Vassilissis Amalias, Panepistimiou, Akadimias, Vassileos Konstantinou, Irodou Attikou and Aravantinou roads.

This year, the “Run-Bike-Care” campaign, organized by the Association of Volunteers of Cancer Patients – Friends of Doctors “KEFI”, will take place in Athens on Sunday, June 11, 2023, in the center of Athens, in Zappeion and in other cities of Greece. The organizers invite people of all ages and abilities to run, walk or bike in support of the Together and at Home program(Μαζί και στο Σπίτι).

Run Bike Care-2023 includes 5 km of running or walking and 10 km of cycling, starting and finishing at the Zappeion Palace, which is a historical heritage of Greek culture. In addition to Athens, the action will take place throughout the country: in Thessaloniki, Larisa, Lamia, Syros, Chania, Gythio and other places.

Proceeds from the Run-Bike-Care organization will go towards funding this year programs “Together and at home”, which is the realization of KEFI’s vision to improve the quality of life of cancer patients and their families who cannot leave home.

The program began its work in September 2018 and since then has not stopped providing psychological and social support. Services are free Cancer patients who meet the following conditions:

a) poor health

b) inability to move

c) financial and marital status.

Run Bike Care is an action to celebrate all survivors and the memory of those who have passed away from cancer. On the occasion of world day of cancer survivors KEFI Association announced eleven June 2023 of the year a day of awakening and awareness for all by bringing together the voices of cancer survivors.

With the message “Run Bike Care” (Run – Bicycle – Care) people of all ages and abilities will take part without competition, whether as joggers, walkers or bikers, on a pleasant trip through the center of Athens and other cities of Greece, demonstrating in practice the KEFI motto “We’re running faster than cancer.”
