M. Chrisoveloni: “It is necessary to investigate possible electoral fraud”

Marina Chrysoveloni, former minister and parliamentary candidate for Magnesia for the opposition SYRIZA, spoke about alleged fraud in the 2023 elections.

In a statement on the results of the elections held on May 21, 2023, Marina Chrysoveloni, former Minister and SYRIZA MP candidate for the Magnesia District, called for an investigation into possible fraud in the elections that took place on Sunday May 21.

Specifically, in a statement, according to TheNewsPaper.gr, Ms Chrysoveloni said:

“The result of the May 21 elections deeply upsets the democratic, center-left, left-wing, progressive, liberal world, no matter how they expressed themselves at the polls. No matter how justified the bitterness, no matter how big or small mistakes were made, now is not the time to reckon with it. The danger is that self-selected autocracy will forever be established in the country as the norm, as a communicative replacement for the true, participatory European-style democracy that we should have and that our children need.

Those of us who are in politics with SYRIZA are the second largest party and therefore have a double duty:

a) Correct our course as quickly as possible, but at the same time control the possibility of poaching voters.

b) Defeat the far-right, interconnected and corrupt establishment, which now has the ability to expand even more dangerously.

We have a direct responsibility to represent hope again, but with more consistency, with more force, with more focus, with much more clarity. Here, now, in difficult times, more than ever before, we must unite and regain the trust of society.

From the bottom of my heart I thank my compatriots and compatriots who honored me with their vote. I thank my colleagues who worked with me in a transparent and fair race. I thank my family members who always support me”.

For those who do not understand what happened on May 21, 2023:

1. For the first time since World War II, the ruling party wins more votes than the previous election battle in which a government was elected.
2. For the first time, with the exception of the “special” election campaign of 1974, the difference between the first and second parties exceeded 20 points!
3. For the first time since the 2nd PP, the official opposition party is losing in absolute numbers as many voters as it happened with SYRIZA. Even the Centrist Union of G. Mavros in the period from 1974 to 1977 did not lose so many voters in terms of the absolute number of votes,
4. For the first time, a party with a simple or near-simple proportional system reaches 146 seats and effectively leaves the parliamentary group of 156 it had before intact.

At the same time, heated discussions have flared up on social media since yesterday, as many opponents of the New Democracy are wondering how it is possible that such an outcome has come about, and many of them are talking about fraud.
