Tsipras: The nightmare will end on Sunday

SYRIZA President Alexis Tsipras expressed confidence in his electoral victory in a speech in Patras, while sharply attacking Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

“Patras are sealing the pact of change. On Sunday the nightmare will end, the dawn of change will come. I have decided to end the election campaign from Patras, from western Greece, where the right has been and still is in the minority. My signal is that on Sunday they will be in the minority in throughout Greece“, – he said.

Tsipras continued:On Sunday we will say good night to Mr. Mitsotakis. Terrorists will not terrorize us, we will terrorize them. We stand against injustice and extend a hand of cooperation to all democratic and progressive citizens. We tell every democratic and progressive citizen that we are not here to rewrite history, but to open a new chapter, the head of a progressive government of cooperation that will rid the country of the worst government of the post-communist era.”

“For four years, the whole society has been shocked by the doctrine of someone who promised better jobs and wages and reduced the middle class to a life on food stamps. Today he escaped and told us what his plan for the middle class is: to punish and crush borrowers who have managed to save their homes from the Katseli Law. That’s why he insists so much that we have a hidden plan. It became clear after yesterday’s rally in Athens and today’s rally in Patras: Go away, Mr. Mitsotakis. Take the Predator cables from Megaro Maximu“.

The President of SYRIZA, in his keynote speech in Athens, at the Syntagma on 18 May, appealed mainly to the voters of the right, since he did not need to convince the voters of the left to vote for him. The question is to convince the remaining “homeless” right-wing voters after the expulsion of 13 parties that did not pass the “block” of the Supreme Court, and traditional New Democracy voters who want a purge for wiretapping and punishment of those responsible for Tempi .

Therefore, A. Tsipras aimed not at the “New Democracy” in general, but at the specific “New Democracy” of K. Mitsotakis.

He is trying to convince a significant part of his voters that they are actually voting for a different party, and not for the one they would like to think for.

In practice, it is trying to remove the ideological obstacle that right-wing voters certainly have and turn it into a “practical electoral solution.”

“I want to address not only progressive citizens, I want to address New Democracy voters. We disagree, but we respect them. And I want to ask them:

Does this behavior have anything to do with your own value codes? Does the behavior of a person who eavesdrops on his ministers and who thus insults your values, the values of the party founded by Konstantin Karamanlis?”

And he emphatically emphasized, always addressing the democratically sensitive New Democracy voters:

“He’s asking you today to give him your votes from conservative New Democracy voters, what? You, with your Democratic Party voters, are asking your citizens to give you a pardon card. Why? with your complicity.”

And I ask you: Will you render him such a service? Will you be accomplices? Think twice and thrice. And for the good of your party, but above all for the good of our country.”

At the same time, he called on “all democratic citizens who have realized how detrimental another four years of Mitsotakis’ rule are.”

“I urge them to judge based on logic. They may have their reservations, even disagreements with SYRIZA, but they cannot fail to understand that only a victory for SYRIZA on Sunday can ensure that the perpetrators of the parastate are brought to justice, and that justice will remain unhindered to repay Tempe’s crime.”

Therefore, there is no room for equidistance here. Because on Sunday there are two possible outcomes of the vote. Either SYRIZA will come first, which means justice, or the New Democracy will come first, which means cover-up.

And I am confident in the decision of the vast majority of progressive, democratic citizens of our country! This is a vote for SYRIZA, for justice for all. This is a vote for SYRIZA, this is justice everywhere.”

It is noted that two days ago, Alexis Tsipras made a “discovery” for citizens left “party orphans” and especially for the nationalist right, after the decision of the Supreme Court on the “blockade” of 13 parties, emphasizing, among other things, that his goal is to get the “voters of the Golden dawn.”

Alexis Tsipras explained that the wiretapping scandal “not just a political scandal. It is illegal, it is a criminal offense to bug political leaders, heads of the armed forces, members of parliament, MEPs, MEPs, businessmen, journalists. Therefore, in my opinion, in no serious state such a crime can be “closed” in this way. Because if this scandal is closed in this way – and this will mean what Mr. Mitsotakis asks us to do, “vote for me to finish this business, to be baptized in the Siluam font *“.

Earlier in the day, Greeks party chairman Ilias Kasidiaris issued a statement asking citizens to “denigrate” Megaro Maxima (Greek prime minister’s administration) and to beware of certain parties he names. In particular, Elias Kasidiaris asks citizens to be “especially suspicious” of the EAN, Eleftherias, Niki parties, as well as the T.Tzimeros-F.Kranidiotis party, it is also reported that he previously issued an “instruction” for his voters not to vote for the New Democracy and PASOK.

*to be baptized in the Siluam font – to be cleansed of all sins
