KAPA Research Poll: "We are in a worse financial situation than 4 years ago"

51% of those polled by KAPA Research responded that during the period of the New Democracy government under Kyriakos Mitsotakis, their life has become worse in a number of issues important to everyday life.

Citizens’ opinions on the work of the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis during the four-year period 2019-2023 and how it handled a number of issues that are critical to their daily lives, as well as crises, are reflected in a KAPA Research survey entitled: “Government of the period 2019-2023”.

The New Democracy government received a “poor score” in several critical areas, as a majority of respondents (51%) in the survey say the Greek economy is “worse” and “probably worse” today than it was four years ago, while 45% believe that it is “better” and “probably better”.

The situation is somewhat worse for households: 56% reported that the situation of their household is “worse”, compared to 40% who said that it is “better”.

Digitization at the top, the press and the next generation

The digitization of the state was cited by 74% of respondents as the issue best handled by the government, with citizens celebrating the steps taken in this area during the novel coronavirus pandemic and the Gov.gr update.

However, the last two places are occupied by freedom of the press and attitudes towards the younger generation – areas that, according to respondents, the government has not helped with its work over the past four years. The percentage of negative opinions about solving youth problems reaches 68%, despite the measures to provide low-interest loans for youth, Freedom Pass, etc.

Tempi (Tempi train disaster), spying on the opposition and the media, and rising prices

In terms of government crisis management, tensions in Greek-Turkish relations, the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine received the most positive ratings – 51%, 42% and 40% respectively. However, rising prices, spying on the opposition and the media, and Tempi received the most negative ratings – 28%, 24% and 23% respectively.

What should be the priorities of the new government
