Tsipras accuses Mitsotakis of electoral fraud

In an interview with regional TV channels, Tsipras made serious accusations against Prime Minister K. Mitostakis, accusing him of institutional aberration by excluding parties in order to falsify the election results.

“For the first time since independence, judges decide who is a candidate and who is not”, – said the head of the main opposition. Regarding opinion polls, he added that “poll companies systematically fail to determine the percentage of Syriza”, which means that their results are… false. He even hinted that they were led by the government.

In particular, when asked if he was afraid of the risk of electoral fraud, he replied: “I am not afraid of the issue of fraud because in this election there will be a representative of SYRIZA in every polling station throughout the country.. Even if they want to commit fraud, they will not succeed. What exists is Mr. Mitsotakis’s attempt to influence the elections by all means, legal or illegal.

What do I mean by influence on elections? Determining the number and political orientation of the parties that participate in the elections is an attempt to indirectly influence the elections. Never in the third Hellenic Republic, since 1974, for 49 years, has there been a debate on this issue. Judges have never had a mandate to decide which party complies and which does not conform to the country’s constitution. Never.

Their question is not to block Kasidiaris, their question is to control who will and who will not be excluded from the so-called right bloc. And they expelled Mr. Nikolopoulos, they cut off the party of Mr. Emfietsoglou, they cut off the party of Ms. Latininupoulou, they even cut off the party of Mr. Eumorphides, if I’m not mistaken in the name, which refers to the liberals, but it was a party that would have taken votes from the New Democracy” .

Summarizing his speech, A. Tsipras said: “InFor four years now, we have been experiencing a long and persistent institutional aberration. When you have a prime minister who does not hesitate to interfere in the work of the judiciary, manipulate it, everything is open to how he will follow the popular verdict the next day. Not SYRIZA will dispute the results. Don’t let Mr. Mitsotakis question the outcome!”.

When asked that the polls show SYRIZA in second place, he answered the following: “For some reason, survey companies are systematically unable to track SYRIZA percentages. I am not saying that there is a universal conspiracy theory here, but I am saying that this is a tool that deliberately distorts the data against SYRIZA.”

He went on to say that people do not respond to polls: “Do you think a citizen who gets a call from a polling company and says, ‘We’ll write down now who you’re going to vote for,’ would readily say anything else? Do you know that now 5 out of 7 do not answer? As soon as the election was called, we requested the companies to release their unweighted data. And they refused. Because if they did, they would be discredited in the minds of the public. Because in their polls they don’t give SYRIZA more than 15%. You know that? People don’t answer. Are they afraid to answer? They don’t want to answer? They have an anti-systemic position, a number of reasons are as follows. If they bring me the ballot count, you’ll see a different result.T”.

The SYRIZA leader referred to the government’s new statements, saying: “I have never seen this before, I have never seen the government go to the polls, announce its program, and ten days later make changes, and two weeks before the vote”. This alone shows that the notion that Mr. Mitsotakis is quietly moving towards victory is probably not true. He loses and in a panic makes adjustments to his program..
