Greek doctor to go into space

Adrianos Golemis is one step away from being selected for the European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut corps.

A Thessalian doctor who will go into space intends to fulfill his dream. Adrianos Golemis, whose name came up in 2022 after successfully passing difficult stages of interviews, medical examinations and other tests, is within arm’s reach of being selected by ESA from other astronauts.

Adrianos Golemis grew up in Larissa and studied medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He then completed the interdisciplinary program “Master in Space Studies” of the International Space University in France, focusing on medical research in the field of space. For three months he worked at the European Space Agency, writing a thesis on “Medical and psychological criteria for the selection of astronauts for long-term space missions”, such as upcoming trip to Mars.

The Greek was selected by the ESA for work at the remote station “Concordia” in Antarctica, where he worked for a year as a research doctor. There he studied the impact of extreme living conditions on the human body and psychology.

Today he is a member of the Friends of Astronomy Club of Thessaloniki (OFA) and represents Greece on the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) – an organization that, in cooperation with the UN, promotes the development of space activities in each country.

From a very early age, Andrianos Golemis demonstrated his love and passion for astronomy. In this regard, he said that his dream is to be in space in zero gravity and contribute to the exploration of the solar system.

Of course, in order to reach the bar that he is now approaching, he had to go through a very difficult and difficult process of training and training. Now, without a doubt, he is ready to fulfill his big dream and fly into space, glorifying his homeland.
