A new price increase of up to 30% is coming

Although inflation is declining, according to authorities, prices for food and basic necessities continue to rise.

In June, prices are expected to rise for at least 200 products at a rate that will reach an average of 6%. However, there are individual products that will increase in price by up to 30%, further burdening the family budget.

Total from the beginning of the year to the end of June it is assumed that prices will increase for at least 1500 basic goods. The new mark-ups will affect both branded and private label products (with the emblem of the supermarket where they are sold), in some cases price increases will reach 30%.

Prolonged tidiness has led most citizens to buy essentials from supermarkets, a fact also reflected in the sales recorded by the big grocery stores.

It is expected that the revaluation of goods and products will continue, but with less intensity compared to the increase that took place in the first two months of the year. The new increases will affect 25 product categories:

according to market factorsand price cuts for products will be made by individual companies during the summer, due to the fact that energy prices continue to remain low. The authorities note that if the rise in energy prices continues, some companies will continue to reduce prices in order not to lose market share and attract as many consumers as possible.

At the same time, experts point out that food inflation cannot follow general inflation, since most of the products produced today were purchased raw materials months ago, when prices were especially high. In addition, there are some products, such as olive oil, which were standardized when their price was increased from producers compared to last year.
