Horse with tied legs found hanging on a hillside on the island of Kea, in the group of islands of the Cyclades. Tourists found the poor animal tied to an olive tree and hanging from a slope.
Tourists at first thought that the horse had an accident, and began to call for help.
It is reported that the owner came to the place, cut the ropes that tied the horse’s legs, and then kicked the exhausted suffering animal several times, ordering it to stand up.
Tourists passing by, as well as motorists who witnessed the ill-treatment, reported it Panhellenic Society for the Protection of Horses Hippothesiswho informed the police.
Tourists suggested that the horse was left without food and water for a long time, and experienced a strong feeling of thirst and hunger. Probably the owner of the horse tied it to a tree on the slope. The animal was looking for shade or grass, but because of its tied legs, it stumbled and slid down the slope, remaining tied to a tree. Fortunately, the horse was not injured, although in this case, everything could have turned out to be much worse consequences.
According to the police report, the 34-year-old man was arrested a day later, early Sunday evening, after Hippothesis filed a complaint with the local police.
It is not yet clear whether the prosecutor issued a decision to seize the horse from the owner, and whether any penalties were applied to the owner of the animal.
