US: 7th grader replaces unconscious school bus driver (video)

In the US, 13-year-old Dillon Reeves prevented a school bus crash by taking control of it when the driver passed out.

The incident took place in the US state of Michigan, informs CNN. A special bus carried, as usual, schoolchildren to their homes. Suddenly, the driver, a 40-year-old woman, felt dizzy and alerted the school’s transportation department that she was not feeling well and was about to stop.

However, the driver was unable to reach the place of the planned parking – she lost consciousness, and the vehicle began to move into the oncoming lane. There was panic among the 66 children on the school bus. Only the seventh-grader Dillon Reeves, who was sitting approximately in the fifth row behind, was not taken aback.

He grabbed the steering wheel from the unconscious driver and smoothly applied the brakes. At the same time, he kept shouting: “Someone call 911. Immediately. Someone must call 911. Let someone call 911!” Eventually the boy steered the bus to safety and stopped. The police called his act “an extraordinary act of courage and maturity.”

The police and fire department responded to the incident within minutes and assisted the bus driver. She was taken to the hospital for examination. The students were taken to their homes by other vehicles, none of them were injured.

Steve and Ireta Reeves are proud of their son, calling him a “little hero”. The student’s mother says: “Dillon has been a really great kid this year. He’s come a long way. He surprised us with his excellent grades and his performances at school with friends. And what he’s done now just fills my heart with pride, makes it beat harder.” from happiness”.
