Early this morning at the Athens airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” a lot of people gathered who came to wish success in the international song contest “Eurovision” to the representative of Greece, Victor Vernikos.
Together with him, head of the Greek delegation Monica Papadatu, press officer Ioanna Niaoti, Panik Records project manager Vangelis Theodorou and Victor’s parents boarded the plane departing for the UK. The first rehearsal of the Greek song is scheduled for Tuesday 2 May.
Sixteen-year-old Victor Vernikos became the youngest representative from Greece in the history of Eurovision. At the international competition, he will perform the song “What They Say”, which tells about young people who, despite all the difficulties, dare to dream and create. The purpose of the song is to encourage people to share their feelings.
Greece will take part in the second semi-final of Eurovision on 11 May. The final of the song contest will take place on May 13.
The stage design for Eurovision-23 was done by artist Julio Himade. King Charles and Queen Camilla came to Liverpool for its grand opening, and they showed it to the public for the first time. On the stage of 450 square meters there are video cranes that will move and rotate. There are also LED lights built into the floor.
