Life sentence plus 13 years in prison "samurai" from New Eritrea

“I have absolute confidence in the Greek justice system. Prison will be my only option, I will be a good citizen when I am done and I thank you for this opportunity.”

With these words, the 40-year-old criminal, who in 2021 pointed a weapon at two employees of a gas company in New Eritrea, mortally wounding one of them, “welcomed” the decision of the Mixed Jury, which was sentenced to life imprisonment and 13 years in prison.

In particular, the judges and jury, without accepting any mitigating circumstances, found the accused guilty of murdering a gas company employee and sentenced him to life imprisonment. He was also found guilty of attempted murder of a second worker, for which the defendant was sentenced to 13 years in prison. In addition, the man was sentenced to 8 months in prison, as well as a fine of 900 euros for possession of drugs, etc.

However, in respect of manslaughter and attempted murder, the decision was made by a majority vote (6-1), as one of the jurors considered that the charge was not consistent with the charges.

While testifying in court, the man stated that he used drugs and had psychiatric problems, and that it was in these circumstances that he was forced to commit the crime, as he was disturbed by the noise from the work that two workers were doing near his house.

He even mentioned that he had been reading the Book of Solomon since childhood. It should be noted that the killer appeared in front of two employees wearing a martial arts kimono, which is why the Greek media called him “the samurai from New Eritrea.”
