White tiger cub to be euthanized: his health condition is irreversible

A white tiger cub abandoned at the Athens zoo will be euthanized in accordance with the decision of a committee of 12 veterinarians in Greece, as well as in accordance with recommendations from abroad.

The state of health of the baby is irreversible and the animal suffers every day. 4 month old female white tiger was thrown under the trash can near the Attica Zoological Park in Spata in early March. She was paralyzed in the lower part of her body, and an examination showed that she had a pin inserted in one of her legs, apparently as a result of a dubious operation.

It is believed that the female white tiger fell victim to the illegal wildlife trade and the traders or whoever bought her were unable to deal with her illnesses. Since then, the zoo has treated a white tiger cub, and the staff named it “Haseya,” which means “Get up” among the Navajo people.

The cub has an incurable bone disease, and the examination reportedly revealed 33 fractures that make it very painful for her to breathe. Therefore, according to a team of 12 veterinarians, with the coordination of the Ministry of Health, taking into account the opinions of their colleagues from abroad, immediate euthanasia is the appropriate solution.

According to the Attica Zoological Park, the conclusion of the veterinarians leaves no doubt. At the same time, Natasha Bombolaki, President of NEMESSIS Animal Welfare Organization, emphasizes in her post:

“We are all shocked and deeply saddened. We have now contacted Nikos Bokaris, head of the Forestry Department, who was assigned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to handle the Haseya case. In this difficult time, all specialists are concerned that she is suffering a lot. Mr. Bokaris told us: “She has 33 fractures all over her body, every breath she takes is unbearable pain. The euthanasia of Haseyah from her torment should be done “yesterday”.

Selfish and irresponsible views are not characteristic of a true animal lover. Bokaris’ proposal would be to then have the pin or nail removed from her foot at the Thessaly Veterinary School department, perhaps they can draw conclusions as to who is behind Haseia’s tragic story. The official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also agreed that the legacy left by the tiger cub is to find criminals and stop the illegal wildlife trade in our country.
