Not even a free room left in Paros – record booking for Easter

The dynamic start of the tourist season in Paros is in March, with the number of arrivals constantly increasing, even compared to the corresponding month of (the best in the history of Greece) 2019, which was a record year for the island.

During the first month of spring 2023, 15,912 passengers, 2,653 cars, 1,161 trucks and 451 two-wheelers landed on the island, compared to 15,178 passengers, 2,073 cars, 743 trucks and 400 two-wheelers that landed in March 2019. This year, the number of ship departures during the month was 190, while in 2019 it was 140.

Great demand for the Cycladic destination also increases on the eve of Easter, which, despite its secular nature, preserves the customs and traditions of the cultural heritage unchanged.

According to local media, from Palm Sunday to Holy Wednesday, churches, chapels and monasteries are filled with believers. On Good Friday, an epitaph is performed. On this day, in the village of Prodromos, parishioners are offered a traditional Parian dish – the famous chickpeas.

In the monastery of St. Georgiou in Lagada there is a fascinating theatrical performance of the “ascent to Golgotha”.

On Easter Sunday in Marpissa, a large open-air Easter table is served with traditional Lambrian dishes. The meal is accompanied by music and dancing. In general, the atmosphere of the holiday will appeal to everyone.
