An important “detail” added to the provision for a subsidy for the replacement of a solar water heater is expected to expand the circle of beneficiaries of the program.
According to the information, special vouchers under the program “Ανακυκλώνω – Αλλάζω Θερμοσίφωνα” will be issued for the purchase of a solar water heater with a tiered subsidy of up to 60%, depending on income and the capacity of the hot water tank (boiler).
Applications will be submitted through the allazothermosifona.gov.gr platform, and removal of the old water heater is mandatory. In addition to financial benefits for beneficiaries, it is important that the program also offers energy saving.
Second home subsidy
According to available information, residential customers will be eligible to be included in the water heater replacement program in their first or second home (own or rented) if they have existing household (not general) electricity supply. Citizen must have a payer number AFM and file an income tax return in the 2021 tax year.
The subsidy rate for the purchase of a solar water heater, according to ot.gr, will be between 50% and 60%, which will depend on boiler capacity and recipient’s income category. In addition, a maximum grant ceiling will be set.
With an income of up to 5,000 euros, you fall into the first income category, from 5,000 to 10,000 euros into the second income category and more than 10,000 euros into the third:
- Boiler 110-135 liters: the percentage of assistance (of the retail sales price) for the 3rd income category will be 50% (with a ceiling of 510.48 euros without VAT), for the 2nd income category 55% (up to 561.29 euros) and for the 1st category of income 60% (up to 612.10 euros).
- Boiler 136-185 liters: the rate of assistance for the 3rd income category will be 50% (with a ceiling of 643.55 euros without VAT), for the 2nd category 55% (up to 707.26 euros) and for the 1st category 60% (up to 771.77 euros).
- Boiler over 186 liters: the rate of assistance for the 3rd category of income will be 50% (with a ceiling of 754.03 euros without VAT), for the 2nd category 55% (up to 829.84 euros) and for the 1st category 60% ( up to 904.84 euros).
Applications will be “evaluated” based on criteria related to income, whether it be a single-parent family, having a disability, number of dependent children, etc.
After the application is approved, the beneficiary will receive a voucher that he can use when purchasing a solar water heater.
