Weather: rain and African dust. What’s expected for the weekend

With African dust and rainfall in places, spring has come to Greece. In the coming days, this will become the main characteristics of the weather for the coming days.

According to the forecast of the national meteorological service of Greece EMY, today in the region of the Ionian Sea and the continental part of the country’s territory a temporary increase in cloudiness with local rains is expected. Phenomena by Saturday evening in the Ionian Sea and the Peloponnese will intensify. The rest of the country is partly cloudy. In the north, in the mountainous regions (approximate height of 1500 meters), light snow will fall.

Weather conditions will favor the transfer of African dust to the west of the country. Wind south-west direction 3-4 points and gradually changing to the south – from 5 to 6 points on the Beaufort scale. The air temperature in the north of the country will not exceed +12-14°С, and in the rest of the territory +15-17°С. At the same time, up to +18°C is expected on the Dodecanese islands.

ATTICA
Weather: periodically increasing cloudiness and local rains from late evening.
Wind: northerly from 3 to 4 points on the Beaufort scale, gradually changing to the south (same strength).
Air temperature: from +09°С to +16°С.

THESSALONIKI
Weather: Cloudy with occasional showers, possible thunderstorms.
Wind: Southeast 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Air temperature: from +08°С to +13°С.

FORECAST FOR SATURDAY 03/04/2023

Cloudiness and precipitation is expected in the west of the country. Cloudy weather will gradually spread to the rest of Greece. Episodic storms will pass mainly in western Greece, and in the afternoon – in central and northern. Snowfall will take place in mountainous areas (approximate height 1400 meters) in the north of the country.
In the west, southwesterly winds 4-6 and occasionally 7 Beaufort. In the east of Greece, the wind is south, with a force of 3-5 points and gradually reaching 6 points on the Beaufort scale.
The air temperature will drop slightly, mainly in the north, and will not change significantly in other regions. In the north of Greece it will not exceed +10-13°C, and in the rest of the country it will be +14-16°C, in the south in some places +17-18°C.
