The latest weather satellite data shows that 12% of the Greek territory, as of January 26, is covered with snow.
This means that in the last week of January, snow cover levels approached the 2004-2022 average. At the same time, the snow will remain until the first week of February – this is indicated by the weather forecasts of the National Observatory of Athens. It is possible that the level will even rise a little.
Forecasters predict that against the backdrop of low temperatures, local snowfalls are expected in the mountainous regions of Crete and mainland Greece.
