Features of the New Year in the DPRK

Like many countries in Asia, North Korea also celebrates the Lunar New Year on January 22. But… a little different.

The main “triumph”, as in any other holiday, is the laying of flowers at the monuments to their great leaders. Other events are not noticeable – the day is like a day, nothing special.

It is worth noting that even in this form, the event is allowed to be held at the official level, starting only from the 90s. Well, that is, how to conduct it – there will be no folk festivals, performances or concerts in the country. Citizens will celebrate behind the closed doors of their homes.

Alternatively, you can go to the entertainment center. But not every resident of North Korea has access to it.
