Vegans staged a protest at the central Varvakeio meat market in central Athens on Saturday afternoon as people were shopping for the last of the New Year’s holiday table.
Dressed in black and holding banners against killing animals, a group of about 15 people chanted the slogans “I want to live” and “No to violence.”
Vegan protests at the central Athens meat market have become a tradition during the holidays for the past couple of years.
It is noted that at this time inside the market, the Athenians made their last purchases for the New Year’s table. The vegans got into a skirmish with the merchants, but this time there was no fight.
