The United States pointed out to Ursula von der Leyen the impossibility of seizing Russian assets

The Americans, through The Wall Street Journal, are trying to reason with European Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen, pointing out the impracticability of her plans to seize the frozen assets of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, saying that this cannot be done “because of the international principle of state immunity.”

presenter US financial newspaper proposes instead of confiscating the assets of the Central Bank of Russia to create a fund for managing liquid assets and use the profits to send payments to Ukraine. The Americans clearly do not want to reach the point of “no return” in relations with Russia. Because if its assets are confiscated, Russia will respond in kind to the assets of the United States and its partners, and this will further complicate the situation in the world.

If they wanted, they could do it, whether it was legal or not. Americans don’t have legal problems they, as is customary with gentlemen, themselves set the rules of the game and clearly do not want to lose their money invested in projects in Russia. Therefore, the United States proposes a “freeze”, which means negotiations and compromises…

The sensation was caused by yesterday’s video with a speech by the chairman of the commission, Ursula von der Leyen, about the arrest of the funds of the Russian Central Bank, which were “frozen”, as well as the creation of a special international court for war crimes allegedly committed by Russia in Ukraine. The head of the European Commission said that Russia should also compensate for the financial damage to Ukraine, which, according to her estimates, has already exceeded 600 billion euros. For these purposes, the European Union has already frozen 300 billion euros of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and 19 billion euros belonging to Russian oligarchs.

The video even caused a strong reaction, since its original version also included a report by the president of the commission, according to which 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died since the beginning of the conflict. However, the specific piece was later removed from the official video.

The leadership of Ukraine immediately reacted to this statement, since official losses are indicated in the amount of only 9,000 people. At the same time, the press secretary of the Ukrainian president, Sergei Nikiforov, said “Suspіlny”that reliable information about the dead can only be voiced by the commander in chief, the minister of defense or the head of state himself. According to the speaker, the head of state Volodymyr Zelensky will publish official data “when the right moment comes”, as such information is “sensitive”.

In early November, the head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley declaredthat the loss of Russian troops killed and wounded exceeds 100 thousand people. He suggests that the Ukrainian side suffered similar losses. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the morning of November 30 informedthat the losses of the Russian Federation in the war are approaching 89 thousand killed military personnel. The Armed Forces of Ukraine do not report on their own losses.

Since the beginning of the war, the Russian Defense Ministry has only reported its losses in Ukraine three times, the last time on September 21, the day mobilization in Russia began. Then Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu declaredthat 5937 Russian soldiers were killed during the hostilities.

Last night, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, in an address following the results of the 279th day of the war, cited his assessment of Russia’s military losses. “They put their regular army in the Donbass, they lose hundreds of mobilized and mercenaries there every day, they use detachments there. Even this year, Russia will lose 100 thousand of its soldiers killed, and only God knows how many mercenaries. And Ukraine will stand,” he said.

In another speech on November 29, Zelensky said that the cost of post-war reconstruction of Ukraine is already estimated at more than a trillion dollars.
