Spain: "mail terrorism" continues, the next addressee is the US Embassy

Explosive package, similar to five previously received parcels, this time came to the US Embassy in Spain.

The incident is reported El Mundo and El Pais, noting that in all cases the brown packaging was the same and the address was written in one hand. The trap package arrived around 12:30 p.m., aroused suspicion and was successfully defused on the embassy grounds.

Rafael Perez, Secretary of State for Security, said the substance used in the bags is similar to those used in pyrotechnics, and noted:

“There are indications that these bundles originate from Spanish territory, but I say this with caution.”

He said the package destined for the Torrejon de Ardoz air base was neutralized without an explosion, which would help to identify the components and the possible sender more easily.

Recall that five parcels have already been intercepted: sent to Moncloa, the Embassy of Ukraine, a Zaragoza company that produces weapons for Ukraine, to the Torrejon de Ardoz air base and to the Ministry of Defense. The National Police informed the National Court of the interception of another package of pyrotechnic material. It was sent to Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and discovered on November 24th. A suspicious package sent by regular mail was detected by the security department while filtering the mail. It was an envelope addressed to the head of government, which was immediately neutralized. In addition, today the Ministry of Defense received an envelope that ignites when opened. It was sent from Spain.
