Imports from Russia to Greece increased, exports to Russia fell

In September, imports of goods from Russia to Greece increased by almost 4 times, the Greek Statistical Office reported. ELSTAT.

Imports to Greece from Russia increased by 3.6 times compared to the same period in 2021. The total value of goods reached 1.102 billion euros. In September last year, the value of imports from Russia to Greece amounted to 301.9 million euros, an increase of 265.1%, according to the Greek Statistical Office. The ELSTAT message says:

“In September 2022, the value of Greece’s imports from Russia amounted to 1102.2 million euros, an increase of 265.1% compared to September 2021, when it was 301.9 million euros. Most of the imports in September came from gas, oil and their processed products – 1.049 billion euros, and for 37.1 million euros Greece bought raw aluminum.

ELSTAT notes that the value of Greece’s exports to Russia in September 2022 was 14.9 million euros, down 31.9% from September a year earlier (21.9 million euros). Thus, the trade balance of Greece and Russia in September 2022 was negative, the deficit amounted to 1.087 billion euros.

From January to September of this year, that is, for 9 months, the value of Greek imports from Russia amounted to 6.831 billion euros – 151.6% more compared to the corresponding period in 2021, when it was 2.715 billion euros.

During the same period, from January to September, Greece exported goods to the Russian Federation for 92.9 million euros – the figure fell by 33.5% compared to the same period last year (139.7 million euros), the statistical office said .

According to ELSTAT, the trade balance between Greece and Russia between January and September 2022 was negative at 6.738 billion euros. The total value of Greek imports from Russia for the whole of 2021 amounted to 4.302 billion euros. GreekReporter.
