President of Greece K. Sakellaropoulou named V. Putin "war criminal" and demanded "hold him accountable"

In her statements during a joint press conference with V. Zelensky, the President of the Hellenic Republic, Ms. Sakellaropoulou, referred to Russian attacks aimed at destroying critical urban infrastructure in Ukraine in connection with the upcoming winter,

stating that “they constitute war crimes because they are directed against the civilian population” and emphasizing that “Greece strongly supports the prosecution of those responsible for these crimes.“.

It is clear that this appeal was directed against Russian President Vladimir Putin, since it is he who bears political and military responsibility for the intervention in Ukraine. In other words, the Greek president accuses the Russian president of war crimes and declares that he will be held accountable. All this is a continuation of the statements of Mitsotakis, who, in fact, “declared war” on Russia.

The President continued: “I want to condemn in the strongest possible terms the unacceptable Russian attacks aimed at destroying critical urban infrastructure in Ukraine in connection with the coming winter, and which constitute war crimes because they are directed against the civilian population. Greece is strongly in favor of holding accountable those who responsible for these crimes.”

Speaking about the sanctions packages against Russia, she noted that “despite the significant negative impact on the economy, Greece has supported and fully implements all the sanctions packages imposed by the European Union against Russia.”
