The concentration of Russian troops on the territory of Belarus is unprecedented, which may mean that the country will enter the war on the side of Russia. However, perhaps this is Moscow’s misinformation to distract Kyiv from the attack on Kherson.
At least 9,000 Russian troops arrived in Belarus along with dozens of pieces of armored vehicles and support materials, and 4 MiG-31 aircraft landed today at an air base near Minsk with 10 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles, which are almost impossible to shoot down.

The new symbol for these forces is the number 2 inside a triangle instead of the familiar Z used by other Russian forces in eastern Ukraine.

The Belarusian Defense Ministry has said that at least 9,000 Russian troops will be stationed in Belarus as part of a “regional grouping” of troops to protect its borders.
“The first echelons with Russian servicemen who are part of the regional group have begun to arrive in Belarus,” Valery Revenko, head of the international military cooperation department of the Defense Ministry, wrote on his Twitter.
“The move will take several days. The total number will be 9,000 people,” Revenko added, noting that more information will be provided at a briefing for military attaches.
Last week, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said his troops would be deployed alongside Russian forces near the Ukrainian border due to known threats from Ukraine and the West.
For reference:
For the first time, the regional grouping of troops (hereinafter referred to as the RGV) was mentioned in the military doctrine of the Union State of the 2021 model. In fact, the document refers to the separation from the armed forces of Russia and Belarus (during the growing military threat) of some joint command and control bodies and rapid reaction forces.
The RGV consists of both Belarusian and Russian troops. According to realistic estimates, the number of the RGV will not exceed 30,000, but since neither its number nor specific tasks are specified anywhere separately, some surprises may await us. At the moment, it is known that the backbone of the RGV will be Belarusians. The Russian contingent is estimated at about 9,000.
“Even regardless of the rumors about the imminent accession of Belarus to the NMD, now no one can guarantee that the Russian strike in the direction of Kyiv will not be repeated. The Ukrainian General Staff will have to strengthen the border and draw back reserves to it, which are so necessary now for the development of the successes achieved by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in September,” they believe in edition “Readovka“.
“This elegant decision made it possible to tie up significant forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine without risking the lives of the mobilized and without bringing them directly into the combat zone. This step should be considered in conjunction with the formation of similar formations from those mobilized in the Bryansk and Kursk regions. We cannot say whether the expansion will be NVO zone and whether ours will try to occupy the conditional Sumy or Chernihiv, “Readovka” emphasizes.
Meanwhile, a new air raid alert was issued in nearly every region of Ukraine on Sunday, according to regional military commands, as they believe bombing is imminent.
In particular, warnings about air strikes and calls to go to shelters were posted on the Telegram channels of the regional military commands in the Poltava, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, Odessa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Sumy, and Khmelnytsky regions.
