Massive summer festivities have returned to Greece after a two-year lockdown period. And the Greeks “dispersed” with might and main, arranging festivities on the eve of the “summer Easter” on August 15th.

Quite an interesting festival was held by vegans. The question “is it possible to hold mass celebrations without meat” was answered by vegan chef Nikos Gaitanos, who oversaw first vegan festivalheld on the Greek island of Ikaria this week.

The menu, according to the OREN chef, includes soufflés, fricassee with vegetables, salads, as well as pasta-horns with soy minced meat, tuna salad, chickpea sausages, burgers and nuggets not of meat, but of vegetable origin.

The festival was very successful and became a hit with tourists. The initiative belongs to the island’s charitable organization, the proceeds will be donated to the animals in their care.
