Disposal of Electrical Appliances: The platform opens on June 21st. Criteria and sums

Up to 710 euros total discount for the replacement of air conditioners, refrigerators and freezers. Read more about the criteria for beneficiaries and the discount percentage in our publication.

Platform allazosyskevi.gov.gr opens tomorrow, on Tuesday, June 21to apply for appliance replacement program “Recycle-Change Device”.

The program subsidizes the replacement air conditioners, refrigerators and freezers, i.e. appliances with the highest energy consumption by providing subsidies from 30% to 50% to buy new ones.

Each household included in the program will be able to replace up to three electrical appliances (up to 2 old air conditioners, refrigerator or freezer) for the main or additional housing, which is privately owned or rented.

Please note that applications do not require supporting documents. All you need is Taxisnet codes and power supply number your house.

Beneficiaries will receive vouchercorresponding to the device, so the maximum number of coupons they can receive is three. The vouchers will contain a unique recipient code, VAT number and name, mobile phone, device category, assistance percentage, home address and delivery number.

For the purchase of new electrical appliances will be drawn up supplier listthey should be energy class A2+ and higher.

Important Details

The platform will open gradually, depending on the final digit of the TIN. That is, tomorrow (June 21) it will be open for VAT numbers ending in 1 and 2, June 22 – for VAT with a final figure of 1, 2, 3 and 4, and so on.

The platform will be open for two weeks, until July 5. During three to four weeks after it closes, vouchers for participation in the program will be issued. Finally, the purchase of an electrical device must be completed before September 16, 2022.

Payout amounts

As mentioned, the subsidy will reach from 30% to 50% the cost of a new device based on income (see also below). The total amount of the discount will be from 135 to 710 euros, depending on various criteria (income, place of residence, type and characteristics of the device to be disposed of, price of the device).

It is stated that both net worth and VAT of a new electrical appliance will be subsidized depending on living place, this will install the ceiling. For example resident Athens will receive a €440 subsidy for the purchase of a 9,000 BTU air conditioner, and a resident islands – 320 euros due to reduced VAT. For a 24,000 BTU air conditioner, the maximum subsidy amount is 710 euros.

Beneficiaries

The beneficiaries (beneficiaries) will be all households regardless of income. A comparative evaluation will be carried out to select the final beneficiaries using objective criteria and scores. Extra points vulnerable, large families, single parents and families with disabilities will receive.

Will be four categories of income beneficiaries and the subsidy rate will be based on them. For example:

  • For the first category of income from 5000 euros and below, the subsidy will be 50%.
  • For the fourth category with an annual income of more than 20,000 euros, the subsidy for the replacement of electrical appliances will be 30%.

It is noted that each house will be bid. For example, for a family of four, both parents can submit two separate applications for different houses each.

Those who were not selected due to a low score will remain on the second place, in the event of an increase in program funding.

After the approval of the application, the consumer will receive in electronic form and on mobile phone code corresponding to the subsidy to which they are eligible and will purchase the device at a discounted price from a store of their choice (if they participate in the program). He will also be required return old device for recycling.

The authorities promised a similar program for professional refrigerators

The Ministry of Ecology and Energy reported that in the near future commercial refrigerator recycling campaign. The budget of the program “Recycle – Change Device” reaches 150 million euros and will be funded by the NSRF.

According to Minister of the Environment and Energy Costa Skrechi, by replacing old devices with new ones, it is possible to achieve a reduction in electricity consumption of up to 40%. More than 380,000 energy-intensive devices can be replaced in this way, which corresponds to savings from 150 to more than 300 euros per year.

The total savings in electricity production can reach 209,000 megawatts-hours per year, which is equivalent to the total consumption of a city with a population of 100,000 people. The savings for the Greek economy could be up to 40 million euros per year, based on current energy prices. At the same time, the reduction in CO2 emissions reaches 125,000 tons in year.
