The cybercrime prosecutor’s office has arrested a resident of northern Greece who possessed and distributed 2.5 million files of child pornography.
Media files with horrendous content were discovered in a citizen’s possession as a result of a targeted operation carried out last week by the Northern Greece Cybercrime Sub-directorate. This was preceded by the use of data received by the Greek service through Europol and obtained as a result of the investigation of the French authorities in the Darkweb.
Based on this study, digital footprints were also found in Greece, where a man was arrested for possessing and distributing child pornography files to other users. The materials of the case were received by the prosecutor’s office of Athens, which ordered a preliminary investigation of the case, writes dikaiologitika.gr.
By contacting ISPs, ΔΗΕ was able to identify the user and locate them. The police broke into his home, where during a search they found 4 hard drives with a total capacity of 15 terabytes.
A criminal case has been initiated against the man. Accused of child pornography was taken to the prosecutor’s office. The digital files will be sent to the Criminological Investigation Directorate of Northern Greece for further laboratory analysis.
