Fakes and lies around the war in Ukraine. Part 2

We continue our column “Fake news about the war in Ukraine”. See part 1 for the beginning. This woman’s face has become one of the most famous in the world, thanks to the Western media. It was also published on the pages of Greek publications.

Fake #4 In the Western media, a photo of a civilian who was allegedly seriously injured when Russian troops attacked the airfield in Chuguev went viral. The photo was also used by an earlier edition caught by the author IN.GRAnd parapolitika.gr, and others. However, it was filmed as a single for the Turkish edition anadolu. A few days later, new footage appeared: the same woman posing with a weapon. According to the “War on Fake” project, it turned out that she was part of the territorial defense units, and the wounds and bandages miraculously disappeared. In addition, the network drew attention to the unnatural color of the blood and too clean bandages for the serious injuries that the woman allegedly received. Fake #5

fake found by channel SIGNAL: A saboteur was detained in Kyiv, whom the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot identify.

True: The “unidentified saboteur” turned out to be a native of Kyiv, information about which posted on a personal page in social networks. This is by no means the first case when provocateurs take living people from Ukraine and make staged shots to create fakes. Fake #6

Fake: The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has launched the project “I am looking for you”. Appeals to use it are sent to WhatsApp by Russian citizens from Ukrainian numbers.

Truth: A plausible pretext was used by scammers. Their goal is not only misinformation of Russian citizens, but also money.
The number of dead and captured Russian citizens is greatly inflated. This can be understood by some punctures of scammers. For example here noticedthat the passport photo of one of the prisoners was taken back in 2019. In some cases fake photos are used Ukrainians. This is a deliberate lie.

Fake #7 The Russian army sets up artillery right in the courtyard of residential buildings in Severodonetsk. Truth: Ukrainian artilleryand the photo was taken yesterday. The position of the armed forces of Ukraine located at the stadium of secondary school No. 11, next to the kindergarten. There are also residential buildings in the vicinity.

This is not the only military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in residential areas – an armored personnel carrier is visible on fresh videos. The people are not happy with him. Fake #8: The Russian military has destroyed a unique An-225 Mriya (Dream) cargo aircraft.

Truth: “Mriya” burned down during the battle for Gostomel airport. However, they burned the world’s largest aircraft by the forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ukrainian politician, deputy of the Servant of the People party Maryana Bezuglaya posted I have a photo of the strike on the hangar on my Facebook, with the caption: “Artillery strike. Armored vehicles and a weapons depot of the Russian Federation were destroyed.” The photo shows the characteristic outlines of the hangar, which coincide in size and shape with the one in which the Mriya stood.

But now the Ukrainian military has finished off the last copy of the unique aircraft. Fake #9: B twitter and telegram published posts about Ukrainians who are fleeing in the city from the advance of the Russian military.

Truth: The fact that this is a fake, said foreign users.
