In the conditions of an oppressive gloomy climate and isolation of the unvaccinated, the festive decoration of the city began in the capital of Greece.
Against the background of the speech of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who announced the complete exclusion of unvaccinated citizens from premises, with the exception of supermarkets and pharmacies, the New Year’s decoration of Athens began.
On the eve of Christmas, once again citizens are trying to feel the “spirit of the festive atmosphere”, but still fear a pandemic and the announcement of new measures, as the number of cases and deaths continues to grow.
Nevertheless, more than 6,000 themed elements depicting candles, Christmas trees, snowflakes, stars, bells and 80,000 meters of garlands will be lit in Athens on Christmas Eve. Festive illumination will decorate the center of the capital and will be located on the square. Syntagma, st. Ermu, pl. Omonia, as well as in all areas of the city.
It started from Omonia Square, where a Christmas tree is installed, and streets and many shops are already “decorated” with colorful lanterns.
