The Polish Defense Ministry announced today another attempt by migrants to break through the Belarusian-Polish border at night.
Mariusz Blaszczak, the country’s Minister of National Defense, said on Polish Radio:
“The night, unfortunately, was not calm. The tension, of course, was less than we could see in Kuznica (there was a major attempt to break through the border there on Tuesday), but the methods of attack on the Polish border remain the same. international attention is focused on the checkpoint, but small groups are making efforts elsewhere. “
According to the head of department, he quotes RIA News, the outbreak of the crisis is for a long time:
“The border situation will not be resolved quickly. We have to prepare for months. Hopefully not years.”
The flow of refugees from Africa and the Middle East wishing to get to Europe increased in the summer. Under their gun were the border lines of the Baltic countries and Poland. Sharp aggravation of the situation happened on November 8. A huge number of illegal migrants moved through the territory of Belarus towards Poland. They were accompanied by armed guards. European Union countries, UK and USA called guilty in the migration crisis Belarus. They are ready to discuss sanctions against her and those who “contribute to the development of the situation on the border with Poland.”
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated that the Western countries themselves are to blame for this situation, because of whose actions people are fleeing the war. Belarusian president threatens to block gas supplies in the EU, if Europe introduces new sanctions: “If new sanctions are introduced against us, we must react.”
On Monday, about 3.5 thousand migrants moved from the camp in the forest zone to the checkpoint and settled “right on the border.” On the other side of the border fence, the Polish military and special equipment were concentrated.
Clashes broke out on Tuesday. The migrants used improvised means against the security forces – stones and sticks. In response, the border guards used tear gas, water cannons and noise grenades. 7 Polish police officers, a soldier of the Polish Army and an employee of the Border Guard were wounded. The number of affected migrants is not reported.
