Greek drunkenness – German media sing the praises of Greece

The Süddeutsche Zeitung has published a series of articles highlighting the quality of leisure in Greece. Our country is called “New Mallorca”, comparing the popularity of Spain and Greece in favor of the latter.

The German press highlights the attractiveness of Greece as an autumn holiday destination, while not forgetting to admire the summer vacation. A leading Bavarian newspaper writes:

“Unlike last year, which was disastrous for tourism, this year the flow of tourists has grown sharply, despite the ongoing pandemic. Along with Spain, Greece was the most sought after tourist destination according to the TUI, and in fact Crete surpassed Majorca as the most popular summer vacation destination for German tourists. The opening of tourism in Greece, where the number of cases is under control and those in charge of tourism are applying hygiene protocols, this year has increased tourist arrivals by air by 20% over 2019, despite its disappointing start-up season. ”

The article notes the “impressive results” of tourism in Kefalonia and Ithaca, as well as in Crete, Dodecanese and Cyclades. The financial incentives that the state provides to young people after vaccination and, in turn, to support tourism are also mentioned:

“September went very well and demand increased in October as well. Travel agencies and airlines have expanded their travel plans to Greece, such as the German airline Condor, which plans charter flights to Crete until November. “

The publication mentions Rhodes and Crete as possible autumn destinations, suggesting also Poros, Aegina, Methane, Hydra, Spetses, writes APE-MPE. “Greek drunkenness” – under this headline came a voluminous article in the newspaper, praising and paying tribute to Kefalonia, “perhaps the most beautiful Ionian island.” The journalist enthusiastically talks about the beauty of the island and the hospitality of its inhabitants.
