ELSTAT: Greece Death Statistics, 10% Increase

In 35 weeks of this year, just over 98,000 people have died in Greece, ELSTAT reports.

The number of deaths in the country is 10% higher than last year’s figure. In the period from January 4 to September 5, 94 806 people died (46 657 women and 48 149 men), and last year, over the same period of 35 weeks (12/30/2019 – 08/30/2020), the number of deaths was 86,121 (43,038 men, 43 083 women).

The average death toll in the first 35 weeks from 2015 to 2020 was 83,881. That is, this year, in relation to him, the number of deaths increased by 13.02% or by 10,925.

According to ELSTAT data, cited by the Athens news agency, the following weeks were the deadliest this year: from 26 April to 2 May, from 3 to 9 May, from 28 June to 4 July, from 2 to 8 August. The lowest number of deaths was recorded in the second, fifth and sixth weeks of the year.
