Starting Monday, the antibody drug Ronapreve will be assigned to vulnerable coronavirus patients undergoing treatment at the UK National Health Service. This is a cocktail of antibodies that Trump received.
According to the publication www.dw.com, the drug will begin to be prescribed to the most vulnerable groups of patients who cannot produce natural antibodies to the virus. A “new” treatment for coronavirus was approved a month ago by the MHRA (Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Authority).
The United Kingdom is the first country in Europe to begin treatment with this method. Health Minister Sanjid Javid (Σάντζιτ Τζάβιντ) stressed that “the country is a world leader in the recognition and supply of essential drugs.”
The drug will be given to priority patients over 50 years of age who have not developed the necessary antibodies, as well as patients aged 12 to 49 with weakened immune systems, for example, people with certain types of cancer and autoimmune diseases.
Ronapreve is a cocktail of artificial antibodies that, unlike other treatments for coronavirus, is the only one that directly attacks and neutralizes the virus. According to research, it reduces mortality by 1/5.
