China is confidently marching towards collective immunity, just a little

More than 2 billion coronavirus vaccinations have already been given in China. By the end of the year, the authorities plan, at least 80% of the population will be vaccinated.

Both doses from COVID-19, according to CNN, citing the PRC Ministry of Health, received 889 million people, and a total of 1.4 billion live in the country. So herd immunity can really be expected by the end of the year.

Vaccination is carried out with drugs of domestic production. As CNN reports, China now accounts for about 40% of all vaccine doses administered worldwide. The authorities report that the recent outbreak in the country is under control and the number of new cases is steadily declining since August 16.

Recently, the vaccination campaign has been aimed at children and the elderly, as well as those living in hard-to-reach areas. These groups have not participated in previous programs. But not everything is so rosy – at a press conference on the coronavirus, criticism sounded about the lack of effectiveness of Chinese drugs against the Delta strain and other mutations of the coronavirus.
