When will full-fledged air traffic between Russia and Greece be resumed?

The head of the Fourth European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Yuri Pilipson, assessed the prospects for the restoration of full-fledged air communication, including charter flights, with Greece.

Pilipson’s opinion is quoted by RIA Novosti:

“With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the prospects for further recovery of air traffic with Greece, as with other countries, will depend on the dynamics of the epidemiological situation.”

He recalled that on February 8 this year, regular passenger flights with Greece were resumed. The geography of flights and the number of flights changes as the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the country improves. Russian specialized departments “closely monitor” the current epidemic indicators of the new coronavirus infection in Greece, their compliance with the safety criteria established by the Rospotrebnadzor. The diplomat assured:

“The unequivocal priority for the Russian side is the safety of our citizens.”

Previously ATOR applied to the Operations Headquarters with a request to open international flights as soon as possible. The letter addressed to Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova emphasizes that Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Cyprus and other countries where the epidemiological situation is safe and meets the established criteria of Rospotrebnadzor, are ready to receive tourists from Russia. At the same time, under special conditions, they were vaccinated with the Russian drug against the coronavirus Sputnik V, which has not yet been approved for use in the EU.
