Erdogan announced “good news” to be announced in Cyprus

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Northern Cyprus on Monday, July 19, where he plans to announce the good news, Anadolu news agency reported.

In an interview with reporters, Erdogan said:

“I want to announce it (good news) in the parliament of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. This will be a positive step, preliminary preparations for which have been completed. “

The Turkish president assures that the news he announces will become a “message of peace.” And not only for the inhabitants of the island, but for the entire international community. Erdogan will be accompanied by a large delegation on Monday’s two-day visit.

Earlier at the NATO summit a meeting took place Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which lasted about an hour. Government sources say the ice has been broken.

Politicians agreed that it was necessary to leave last year’s tensions behind, although there were very important differences. The meeting of the leaders of the two countries began at 17:20, after the completion of the NATO summit. After a photo for the press, they talked behind closed doors. Earlier, the Turkish president argued that “the activation of channels of dialogue with our neighbor and allied Greece serves the stability and prosperity of the region”:

“We take into account international law, justice and equality, as well as respect for mutual rights and interests in interaction with our neighbors. I believe that the activation of channels of dialogue between us and our neighbor and ally Greece serves the stability and prosperity of our region, as well as the solution of bilateral issues. “
