Justin Bieber, who is vacationing in Greece with his wife Haley, made a new friend: a 79-year-old fisherman on the island of Milos.
The 27-year-old singer got a taste of real Greece after dining in a modest boat garage converted into a tavern in the charming fishing village of Mandrakiya on Milos.
Boat garages, or “syrmats,” with their colored doors are usually located on the ground floor of fishermen’s dwellings. Bieber arrived there and tasted authentic Greek cuisine at the tiny Medusa tavern. But for this he had to warn the neighbors to open the premises. His assistant, Dimitris Tsakumis, visited Andreas, 79, a local fisherman who apparently had the keys.
An elderly Greek fisherman, who had no idea who Bieber was, prepared a modest meal for him, which included fried sardines, traditional beans, peas, olives, feta cheese, and bread. According to Tsakumis, Mr. Andreas apologized for not having 4G internet in the room and befriended Bieber by talking about his life as a fisherman.
He revealed that he is a permanent resident of Mandrakia and that, despite his age, he still swims every day besides fishing in his little kayake, a traditional Greek fishing boat, anchored near the tavern.
Later, Mr. Andreas apologized that he had to return to work. He left Bieber to continue his meal and headed for his kaiki.
Justin Bieber posted on Instagram two photos from his unique Greek experience. He simply said, “This place is like a lucid dream.”
Bieber and his girlfriend Hayley traveled to the Greek islands. Before Milos, they were spotted in Mykonos and Santorini. Even though Bieber seemed to want to keep a secret about the vacation, he was open enough to pose with fans for photos.
The photos posted by fans on the internet led to the rapid spread of news. This contributed to their “secret” being revealed, so the couple decided to start posting photos of their stunning Greek getaway on social media.
