Vaccination is progressing at an accelerated pace

The vaccination program in our country is entering a new phase from today. Johnson & Johnson vaccination is reportedly starting in Greece, with vaccination centers operating from today until 22:00.

“To date, more than 100,000 vaccinations are planned,” Tanassis Kontogeorgis, Secretary General of the Government for Coordination, told SKAI 100.3.

The official noted that “during Holy Week, citizens showed great interest in the implementation of vaccinations. About 500 thousand of our fellow citizens took advantage of the opening of the platform and made an appointment for the vaccination. Mr. Kontogeorgis also noted that one million citizens have already completed the vaccination, having made both doses …

According to Mr. Kontogeorgis, in June all age groups will have the opportunity to get vaccinated. “We have to see what appointments will be made in the coming days to decide on the next age group, and that will be done by the end of the month,” he said.

Johnson & Johnson vaccine
Greece will receive 300,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson in May and another 960,000 in June, according to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Marios Themistokleous. In addition, with this drug, residents of Greece, bedridden, will be vaccinated at home from 15 May.

Recall that this month begins the third stage of the state program for protection against coronavirus “Freedom” (Επιχείρησης “ςλευθερία”). From today, the capacity of the system is increased by the development of a total of 1,500 specialized centers, with the aim of reaching 2.5 million vaccinations, and in June – up to 4 million.

During this period, citizens aged 30-39 years old (with the AstraZeneca vaccine), 40-44 years old (with the AstraZeneca vaccine), 45-49 years old with all available vaccines, as well as citizens over 50 years old, citizens with high-risk chronic diseases, medical workers and teachers of educational institutions.

The Ministry of Health said that in the coming days it will be announced when all vaccines for the age group 40-44 will become available.
