The 25-year-old girl was arrested at her home, an apartment located in one of the districts of Athens.
On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, the Electronic Crime Investigation Department arrested an Athens woman who is accused of revenge pornography (revenge porn)* and attempted extortion.
*In English, the term “revenge porn” is called revenge pornThis is the practice of distributing intimate material without the consent of the person depicted, often for the purpose of revenge.
In particular, a certain man filed a complaint against an unknown attacker, a manager of a social network profile, who threatened him that will share erotic audiovisual material that she acquired during their communication unless he pays her 2,000 euros.
To clarify the matter, A thorough police and online investigation of digital elements and data was conducted, which established that the citizen is the administrator of the online profile in question.
The girl was found and arrested at her home. During the operational actions, evidence was seized – a laptop and a mobile phone. This confirmed her involvement in the case. The seized digital evidence will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Department for the necessary examinations. The arrested woman was delivered to the competent prosecutor.
