According to sources TV channel CNN, citing the Barrow County Sheriff, identified the shooter as Colt Gray, arrested and charged with murder. Police arrived at the school in Winder minutes after the shooting began, and the student who opened fire immediately surrendered to law enforcement.
Last year, CNN notes, the student was questioned by police in connection with anonymous messages that Gray had threatened to shoot up the school online. During that interrogation, the student denied his guilt.
Security has been beefed up in Winder. GBI Chief Chris Hosey said there was no evidence Gray had an accomplice. At the same time, he said police were checking nearby schools for possible threats.
