Over 300 kg of gunpowder and a small arsenal found in the house of a deceased collector

In the house of the deceased collector, Ilida security police officers found 305 kg of gunpowder, combat and hunting weapons, as well as hundreds of units of ammunition.

According to Patris News, the discovery of the military equipment occurred in connection with the temporary sealing of the home of a 73-year-old man who died on Monday, August 26. Police believe the old man was a “fan” of military equipment, much of which was apparently inherited from his father, who was officer in the Greek army.

In fact, among the weapons found (in working order) were also two old combat rifles dating back to the Second World War. Also found and confiscated during the search of the man's house in Peristeri (Ilida):

  • 305 kg of gunpowder in kegs
  • 7 shotguns
  • 2 army rifles
  • parts of old automatic firearms
  • 5 shops to machines
  • 235 hunting cartridges
  • 65 rifle cartridges.

In addition, the house was searched in the presence of a competent bomb disposal specialist. The items were seized and will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Department for examination.
