A 48-year-old British tourist who went missing on the island of Rhodes on Wednesday afternoon has been found dead on one of the island's beaches.
The body was found on Paradisi Beach by a passerby late Thursday night, who immediately alerted police and the coastguard. Authorities have confirmed that the body is that of the missing British tourist.
According to initial data, death was caused by drowning. The prosecutor ordered an autopsy to establish the exact cause of the man's death. A preliminary investigation is currently underway.
The British tourist was on holiday on the island with relatives and was last seen at Theologou Beach, where he went swimming with his niece.
His young niece had gone out earlier, leaving him on the beach. When she returned and did not see him, she alerted the authorities.
