Criminal organization that transported drugs from Greece to Israel dismantled

Greek and Israeli authorities have begun dismantling a transnational criminal organization that was involved in the supply, transportation, import and storage of drugs in Greece and then shipping them to Israel.

In particular, during an organized police operation that took place from Monday, August 12 until the early morning of Tuesday, August 13, 2024 in Volos, in cooperation with the Volos Drug Enforcement Department and under the coordination of the General Affairs Department of the Drug Enforcement Unit, a total of 8 members of the organization were arrested.

How the criminal organization operated

The operation was preceded by a thorough investigation, during which it was revealed that the members of the group created a multi-member criminal organization with constant and structured actions and defined roles, They were involved in drug trafficking in order to obtain large sums of money.

In particular, members of the organization acquired drugs in Western European countries, which they hid in vans to bring into Greece. The drugs were then transferred to a floating vessel in bait boats. with final destination in Israel.

Structure and roles in a criminal organization

The roles of the organization members were defined as follows:

• The 44-year-old, a leading member, was responsible for coordinating and planning illegal activities, recruiting members, finding drugs, transporting them and delivering them to Israel
• Three members (aged 34, 35 and 39) were responsible for receiving drugs in Greece and coordinating their transportation to Israel, hiring a boat and hiding the drugs on it.
• 4 members (aged 37, 38, 38 and 39) were responsible for receiving drugs abroad and importing them to Greece via Bulgaria in caravans in which they hid them
• Unidentified crew members of the sailing vessel were responsible for obtaining drugs in Greece and transporting them by sea to Israel.

During the searches, the following was discovered and seized:

• 53 kilograms and 240 grams of the drug MDMA
• 50 kilograms and 250 grams of ketamine
• 7 grams of cannabis
• 2450 euros
• 3460 Israeli shekels
• automobile
• 2 caravans
• 13 mobiles
• 14 canisters.

The illicit financial gain of the criminal organisation, taking into account its professional infrastructure, continuous activity and geographical distribution, is estimated at more than 2,500,000 euros. Those arrested were taken to the competent prosecutor's office, and the investigation to identify and arrest the remaining members continues. Watch the video:
